She cites a June 27 bite raising AIDS fears and seeks damages including routine AIDS tests. Michael Huberty faces an assault charge and the marriage ended the same night.
American Jesse Turner, freed Monday night by captors in Lebanon after years in captivity, appears at the U S Air Force Hospital in Wiesbaden Germany and thanks supporters. He is a Linn County native held since 1987, with U S ambassador Robert Kimmit nearby as his wife and daughter prepare to join him in Germany for a reunion.

Officials describe blunt racial and gender preferences as a way to attract employers, while a program director in Iowa denies any illegal discrimination and urges strict penalties for offenders.
The House approved a broad crime package by a 305 to 118 vote, expanding the federal death penalty and restricting death row appeals. It authorizes 1.3 billion dollars for crime prevention including a police corps program, while differences with the Senate will be resolved in a conference.
