Preliminary figures show Iowa elementary and secondary classrooms host 4 691 more students this year, a 1 percent increase from last year. This marks the second consecutive year of growth. Details on page 6B.
The Iowa Illinois football clash from Champaign will be televised nationally by ABC on November 3 starting at 2 30 p m local time. ABC announced the telecast on Monday and will bring the game from Champaign to a national audience.

Thieves broke into Roushar Pharmacy at 811 Fifth Ave SE between 7 p.m. Saturday and 11:30 a.m. Sunday, stealing 1165 Dilaudid tablets 1000 Percodan tablets and 1850 morphine sulfate tablets worth about 31000. Police fear stolen opiates will fuel overdoses as investigation continues. Police say this is the second burglary at the store, with a prior break-in in July. FBI agent Mike Dudley involved.
