Playtime Poppy marks 6th anniversary of Cedar Rapids theater
The Cedar Rapids Children’s Theatre Inc celebrates its sixth year with Playtime Poppy roots tracing to 1951 and a 28 member board formed by Marijane Morgan and Dorothy Carey. High schools now host shows at Jefferson Washington and Kennedy, and past seasons drew over 4600 attendees. The troupe runs Summer Theatre Adventure for youths 9 to 14, fosters community ties, and preserves the mascot Playtime Poppy first portrayed by Walt Pimlott in 1969.
