Non-Farm Income Growth Chart Through Q2 This Year

Iowa Trails in Growth of Non-Farm Income

Iowa's non-farm personal income rose about 5.5 percent from Q2 1987 to the current year, ranking 43rd among states. Nevada led with 11.2 percent growth, while Wyoming was last at 2.2 percent. The Prairie region posted 6.2 percent growth, behind high-tech New England, with Illinois near 17th at 8.2 percent and neighboring states ranging from 5.6 to 7.9 percent.

Four Year Old Survives Five Minute Cold Pool Rescue

Bobbye Howard of Hiawatha recalls nearly losing her son Jeffrey after he fell into a five foot deep outdoor pool at 1190 Rainbow Blvd. Damien Pitcher 5 and Ronda Pitcher 20 fetched help and performed mouth to mouth resuscitation saving the child. Jeffrey is uninjured and recovering with hospital staff noting no ill effects.
