Cable TV origin and growth through the years
Cable TV emerged from a salesman mounting a local antenna to deliver clearer signals via new cables. Early signals traveled via mountains, later boosted by satellites in 1975, with uplink and downlink stages and dish receivers. By today, about three in ten homes subscribe, with some systems offering up to 100 channels and plans to link home computing.
