U.S. Threatens U.N. Funds If Israel Is Expelled
Washington warns the United States will withdraw from the U.N. General Assembly and withhold payments if Israel is expelled. Secretary of State George Shultz says such action would damage the U.N. system and urges members to oppose the ouster led by Iraq and Libya. The administration may also suspend part of its 1982 U.N. assessment to the IAEA as leverage ahead of Nairobi votes.
