Malden switches to TV with Streets of San Francisco

Hollywood veteran Karl Malden ends 20 years of film work to star in the TV series The Streets of San Francisco with Michael Douglas. The move comes after the industry cited poor film business and nudity concerns, as Malden cites a 26-week, no-pilot commitment produced by Quinn Martin. He admits the debut season ratings were weak but believes the show has potential with quality and character depth.
