Hughes finds God directs his life in Cedar Rapids sermon

Harold Hughes, former Iowa governor and U.S. senator, spoke at St. Pauls United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids telling how he found Christ 25 years ago and that God directs his life. He described early alcoholism, jail stints, and a near death moment that led to his faith. He later supported a Democratic fundraiser for Jerry Fitzgerald while urging voters to judge candidates by conviction rather than party. He emphasized his work with the Assisi Foundation and his stance on the two party system.
