Settlement Reached in Fatal Cedar Rapids Bicycle Crash
A $150 000 out of court settlement resolves a Linn District Court suit over the death of Sherman L Dobbs 20 Atkins. The estate sought 750 000 from truck driver Shelby R Cason and Dillon's Dance Hall owner Progressive Entertainment Corp. Dobbs was struck from behind Sept 2 1982 near Highway 30 Edgewood Road overpass. Cason was convicted of drunk driving and involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to five years and one year concurrent. Pamela Dobbs to receive 100 000 from Casons insurer and 50 000 from the bar insurer. Attorneys for defendants declined comment on the settlement.
