First Tortilla Roll Off At Bowers Museum Honors Five Winners
At the Santa Ana Bowers Museum event part of La Jaminica, five competitors patted rolled and baked flour tortillas for trophies. Ysidra Gutierrez won best tasting tortillas while Ruth Barrios earned roundest in a lively contest with Arabella Zuniga. Anthony Mena entered as the lone man using a rolling pin. Barrios and Zuniga tied for fastest tortilla maker before Zuniga claimed victory. Gutierrez credited family skill and ingredients including lard and warm water for flavor.
