The new regulations would let qualified families receive bonus coupons without any personal purchase, giving a four member family about 111 dollars in free food stamps. Nationally recipients now pay about four dollars of their own money to obtain ten dollars in coupons.
Food stamp plan costs rise as August figure tops July
The August thrifty food plan for a four member family ran about 192 dollars a month, about ten dollars more than the July 1 allocation, a roughly 5.5 percent increase.
