Guns Seized After Search

Authorities seized 14 guns Thursday afternoon after a search warrant at 38 Forty-first avenue SW. Merlin Buck Bean, 44, was arrested on a warrant for receiving and concealing stolen property and released on a $5,000 bond. Deputies and Iowa BCI officers recovered hand guns rifles and shotguns now in BCI custody. Warrants followed an extensive investigation.

Man Injured in Fall From Truck Near Linn County Farm

Paul Garland, 52, of Lexington Kentucky, sustained a right hip fracture and was treated at St Luke's hospital after falling from a farm truck Thursday afternoon north of the Linn county home. The sheriff's department investigated the accident.

Refugees Cut Off Food to 5 U.N. Hostages

The Kremlin condemns Andrei Sakharov as an anti patriot and deems the Nobel Peace Prize to be a political ploy. Rape Charge Dismissed and Then Refiled

A rape charge against Dale F. Bowman was dismissed in district court after a unavailable state witness, then refiled by the county attorney. Bowman remained jailed briefly on intoxication and bond was set at 10000 dollars. Hearings on bond reduction and admissibility of a police statement are set for next Wednesday with trial scheduled for December 8. Harold Denton noted refiling in a felony case does not constitute double jeopardy.
