Commerce panel exempts Muscatine plant in IE rate case
The Iowa Commerce Commission ruled the Muscatine plant purchase by Iowa Electric Light and Power Co. is exempt from excess capacity penalties under a new law. IE plans a 10 year power supply with Muscatine Power and Light Co. and argues the exemption reduces the rate case dispute. Even without Muscatine, IE shows only 24.7 percent excess capacity, below the 25 percent threshold used in past cases.
