Cutbacks will hurt hospitals in staffing crisis
A federal law limiting foreign doctors to practice in the United States could trim hospital staff by 20 percent or more over years. The AMA report predicts visa grants will fall 64 percent by 1980 end, as doctors must pass a NBME exam. Canadians are exempt. The study appears in the New England Journal of Medicine.
