University of Iowa radiology masks turn into patient art
Weiren Liu decorates radiology masks for cancer patients, transforming scary equipment into character canvases. The project, started by Jana Grienke, covers 30 to 40 masks with themes like Spider Man and John Deere tractors. The art aims to reduce fear during radiation sessions, with patients sometimes enjoying wearing the decorated masks. Liu plans to train a successor to continue the program after his departure.
