Charles Swatos, a 92 year old from North Liberty, claimed the Lucky for Life second level prize at the Iowa Lottery headquarters. He chose the $390,000 cash option, after taxes his check totaled $273,000. Swatos, a 39 year dairy employee, has played since Iowa Lottery began in 1985 and this is his largest win.

Marion man charged with first degree murder in Carrie Davis case
Gregory Davis, 27, of Marion, is charged with first degree murder in the death of Carrie Davis whose body was found Monday outside a rental home on Hillview Drive near Hanna Park. Police say the two were in a romantic relationship and recently moved to 1280 14th St. in Marion. The complaint alleges Davis stabbed Carrie on or about Sept. 28 and her body, wrapped in blankets and carpet, was placed on a utility trailer. Authorities noted eight stab wounds and that the Hillview Drive trailer was owned by Davis’s parents. The case marks Marion’s first homicide since 2015.
