Cedar Rapids will not open bids for the new terminal until spring. The 88,388 square foot triangle shaped building is estimated at 6.79 million dollars, with an optional two story plan costing about 8.97 million dollars discussed but not pursued.

Fairfax couples sue city over sewer backups
Five Fairfax couples sue the city for unspecified damages claiming breach of contract to provide water and sewage services. Plaintiff Richard Meyocks alleges personal injuries from the city's alleged failure to fulfill the contract. The suit cites prior complaints of basement damage from repeated rain and sewage backups, including an April sewage spill of up to 12 inches. The city has federal and state grants for an $864 000 plan to connect Fairfax and Cedar Rapids sewer lines, a project jeopardized by a land-purchase dispute.
