13 year old Krysty Bujakowska dies of osteosarcoma

Freshman Academies to open in Cedar Rapids high schools

Marion moves toward outdoor aquatics center referendum
Marion officials advance plans to purchase 24 acres north of Highway 100 near 31st Street and Munier Road for a new outdoor aquatic center. A bond referendum in November 2025 will finance the project. if it fails, $1 million principal remains in escrow with interest to the landowner. The non binding memorandum with Atlas LP Company LLC confirms city interest while formal agreements follow. The current pool stays open until a May 2027 grand opening, with demolition and redevelopment to follow.
