Son held in slayings of rural Marshall pair

An elderly couple, Loren West and Emma West, both 67, were found shot to death on their rural Marshall County farm. John W. Wilson, 43, described as a son of Emma West and stepson of Loren West, is charged with two counts of first degree murder after turning himself in. Investigators said the weapon and motive remain unclear as they continued scene work.

Four plead innocent in Cedar Rapids triple murder case

Four suspects appeared in Linn District Court on charges connected to the Nov. 15 stabbing deaths of Jackie May and her two sons. Bruce Farris and Michael Rohn face three and one counts of first degree murder, respectively, with Jan. 31, 1983, trial dates set for Farris and Rohn. Rosemarie Glandon and Louise Franks face accessory after the fact charges with trials to be scheduled.
