U S District Judge Edward J. McManus accepted the guilty plea of John Kloberdanz a 53 year old former Osage postman on two counts of theft from the mails and fined him 50 cents total 25 cents on each count. He criticized the government for bringing charges while noting the administrative punishment already imposed and warned the case to be a mean action. Kloberdanz admitted taking a weekly magazine and a third class letter both addressed to a deceased family friend. He said the magazine was junk mail and the letter contained money sent by inspectors and the incident led to his resignation and deferred pension benefits potentially over 100000 dollars until age 62.
