Provo Utah AP reports two BYU students Allan Warren 23 Downey California and Larry Anderson 19 Anchorage Alaska used a belt as a safety line on a icy ledge above Bridal Veil Falls. Warren slipped and fell to his death as the belt snapped while Anderson clung on.
Services for Arthur C. Deamer former Cedar Rapids school superintendent were held at 3 p m with Rev James M Webb presiding. Deamer died Saturday afternoon after a brief illness ending a 25 year tenure that concluded with his 1947 retirement. Burial was at Cedar Memorial.
Charlotte Genora Culver widow of Forrest Ball Culver died at home Sunday in Cedar Rapids after living there 18 years. Born December 25, 1874 in Sabula she is survived by a daughter Mrs. Guy Wilfong of Sydney Nebraska and three sons Carlisle and Forrest of Cedar Rapids and Gordon of Tacoma Washington. She belonged to St. Paul’s Methodist church and Rebekah lodge and was a past worthy matron of Manilla chapter OES. Services will be held at Turner chapel at 3 Tuesday conducted by Dr. H. Hughes Dill with burial at Cedar Memorial. Friends may call at the chapel.
Simon J. Abraham, 66, of 412 Fourteenth St. SE, retired Iowa Steel and Iron Works employee and Cedar Rapids resident for 30 years, died Monday. Born in Lebanon, he belonged to St. George's Syrian Orthodox church. Survived by wife Anna, married Feb. 13, 1916, two daughters Mrs. Ray Myers of California and Mrs. Irving Fleming of Decorah, and two brothers. Body at Barta-Hesser chapel. Funeral plans to be announced later.
Vera M. Heim aged 41, wife of August G. Heim of 1340 Second Ave SE, Cedar Rapids and Marion resident for 30 years, died Sunday after a long illness. Born July 12, 1888 in Agency, she married June 21, 1920 there. Graveside services at Agency at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Mrs. Fred Womeldorf formerly Edna Jones of Cedar Rapids dies at Mce Allen Texas aged 71. Services held there. Survived by her husband two sons two daughters a brother and a sister.

He argued the Soviets hold a lead in technology and psychological and political influence, while the Free World leads economically, making disarmament unlikely and world domination a continuing objective.

Four cars, two parked, were in a Sunday afternoon crash at Fourth avenue and Sixth street SE. Dorothy Horak of 645 Twenty-ninth St SE went to Mercy Hospital, treated and released. Her car and a machine driven by Joseph Conway of 612 Fifth Ave SE collided at the intersection. Horak’s car then hit a parked car owned by Baxter Sates, which hit another parked car owned by Max Oelschlaeger of 2401 Have NE. Conway was charged with failure to yield the right of way at a stop intersection.
Safety Commissioner Bob Johnson challenged a police promotion as out of line and urged a full rewrite of the police ordinance. He argued the Civil Service Commission has acted without proper authority and called for an organizational chart before any new measure. The council rescinded the move and planned a corrected, comprehensive ordinance with follow up to come.
