Cedar Rapids Christmas Tree Finds New Home in Greene Square
A 35 foot Colorado blue spruce now towers in Greene Square Cedar Rapids as crews from Parks and Recreation and Forestry raise the community tree for the Fire and Ice Festival. Donor Rick Steepleton planted it 24 years ago and will help light it Saturday with his three children. The star and lights were added before the tree’s upright placement, secured by four cables tied to new park poles. The tree aligns with the Rolic sculpture linking the art museum and public library, completing Greene Square’s redo.
