Cedar Rapids Christmas Lighting Contest Rules Set

The Cedar Rapids recreation commission with Iowa Electric Light and Power Co sponsors an annual home lighting contest limited to city residences. Judging by three local judges considers artistic effect originality and technique with prizes from 7.50 to 50 dollars plus district and grand champion awards. Entries due by December 23 with a bus tour planned for December 27 and a publication of judges tour results in The Gazette.

Man Excused From Jury After Wound Cited

Donnie Gant a 32 year old man asked to be excused from serving as a juror in a burglary trial saying he might not be fair. He appeared with a 10 stitch wound and said he was attacked by three youths, one armed with an iron pipe, who took his wallet the day before.
