Marron Beaten Robbed of $50 in Cedar Rapids Apartment

A southeast Cedar Rapids man, Leo Marron, 56, was beaten by two intruders who broke into his apartment at 8:30 p.m. Monday and robbed him of $50. He was taken to Mercy hospital then Iowa City’s University hospitals with possible skull fracture and other injuries. condition listed as satisfactory Tuesday. Marron could not describe the attackers.

Zacek Counsel Files Motion To Inspect Evidence

Attorneys for Richard S. Zacek filed a motion in municipal court Tuesday to inspect all evidence and statements in the first degree murder case. Judge Loren M. Hullinger Jr. had not ruled by noon as defense lawyers seek access to physical evidence for an adequate defense. Zacek was arrested Thursday for the Oct. 19 death of a Washington high school senior.
