Five Big Ten stars named to AP 1964 all conference team

Michigan quarterback Bob Timberlake headlined the 1964 AP all conference squad as a unanimous pick at halfback after a versatile season guiding the Wolverines to the title. Gary Snook Iowa, Dick Gordon Michigan State, and Jim Grabowski Illinois joined on offense with top defensive selections including Dick Butkus and Bill Yearby.

Linn-Mar Triumphs 60-37 Over Troy Mills in Home Win

Linn-Mar volleyed to a 60-37 victory over Troy Mills in a Tuesday night game at the Linn-Mar gym. Dave Price led with 15 points, while Mark Baty had 11 for Troy Mills. The Lions opened strong, led 13-11 after one, then 28-11 in the second, and coachs cleared the benches in the final period. Linn-Mar freshman-sophomore team also won 46-16, Dennis Price scoring 19 for the young Lions. Next game is December 4 at Walker.

Noonan Named Hawkeyes Captain and MVP

Karl Noonan of Iowa was chosen as team captain and most valuable player for 1965, the Davenport banquet marking a rare double honor. He credited linemen and Gary Snook for the passing game, while Del Gehrke won the All-Iowa award and Bud Wiese the Eva shevski GPA honor.

Glass backboard mishap delays Bettendorf West Davenport game

Iowa head coach Jerry Burns accepted an invitation to help coach the East squad in the East-West Shrine game in San Francisco on January 2.
