Man in Trunk Back Willingly On Israel Flight

Mordechai Louk an Israeli man found chained inside a diplomatic trunk at Rome's airport last week returned to fly to Tel Aviv as a willing passenger. Italian police escorted him and guarded him during the flight. Israeli officials earlier said he wished to return to Israel after the incident which led to three UAR diplomats being expelled.

C R Woman 60 Found Hanged in Cedar Rapids Home

Freida Geiken of 814 Wilson Avenue SW was found hanged in her basement around 1 p.m. Tuesday by her son John. Detectives classify it as an apparent suicide. Born 1904 in Newhall she worked 21 years at Wilson & Co Cedar Rapids. Fry and Holland Funeral Home of Vinton handles arrangements.

Mary Sova 87 Cedar Rapids Widow Dies After Long Illness

Mary Sova aged 87 of 816 Sixteenth Street SE Cedar Rapids died Monday after a long illness. Born June 10, 1877 in Czechoslovakia she was widow of James Sova and lived in Cedar Rapids 61 years. Survived by two daughters Mrs E G Christle and Mrs Joseph Christle both of Cedar Rapids a son Albert five grandchildren 14 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Coralville Men Face Drunk Driving Fines In District and Municipal Courts

Coralville resident Richard Gerald Wolf, 37, was fined 500 dollars by District Judge William Eads after a July 22 arrest two miles northwest of Cedar Rapids on highway 74. Thomas C. Ford, 61, received 300 dollars on a first offense from Municipal Judge Loren Hullinger Jr. A third man, Jorgen Walter Wilson, 71, waived to the grand jury after a November 7 arrest in Mt. Vernon for drunk driving.

Parole Revoked for Robert Lavern Irons

Robert Lavern Irons, 18, of 13000 Avenue NE, had parole revoked by Judge Warren Rees on the parole agent's recommendation from a ten year sentence at Anamosa reformatory. Irons gained parole Aug 11 after pleading guilty to breaking and entering for which the parole was granted. Parole Agent Harold Cerveny urged revocation after Irons bought beer and whisky and became intoxicated.

Linn district court records show three new lawsuits totaling 12,078.90 seeking damages from the Cedar Rapids Transfer and Storage warehouse fire on May 22. Explosion wrecks building. woman rescued after basement collapse

An explosion shattered a building leaving half the south side standing and exposing apartments. Firemen rescued 21 year old Marianne Whitecalf from the basement after about ninety minutes. Father Bernard Branson spoke with her as rescuers used saws and ladders to reach others, including Edward and Vivian Schoolley trapped on upper floors.

Firefire Investigators Review Funeral Service Plans

Asst. Chief Mueller and Asst. Chief Robert Ellison led the fire prevention bureau in continuing the investigation into the smoldering bedding fire. They planned to question Mrs. Brush and Mrs. Akre at the hospital as funeral services for Mr. Brush were assigned to Janeba-Kuba Funeral Home.
