An Obama administration official says a preliminary probe into the foreclosure process shows breakdowns in basic lender controls. Assistant Treasury Secretary Michael Barr told the Financial Stability Oversight Council that a task force of 11 federal agencies found serious problems and aims to present improvements by late January.

PAETEC will consolidate network operations centers in Charlotte and Rochester over the next year, eliminating 98 jobs in Hiawatha. The company plans to keep Hiawatha as a hub for its small business unit while offering transfers to other positions. PAETEC employs about 400 people in Hiawatha. The center opened in December 2007 and serves roughly 40,000 business customers.
