The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program provides partial help with heating bills for eligible Iowa households. Funded by the Iowa Department of Human Rights, it serves homeowners and renters including seniors and disabled, with outreach to those heating with wood or whose rent includes heat. Iowa Court Of Appeals Overturns Theft Conviction
The Iowa Court of Appeals reversed Danny Fisher's second degree theft conviction ruling his lawyer failed to timely challenge evidence from a November 11 1998 search. Officers seized items tied to Belle Plaine High School thefts during a separate arson probe, and Fisher allegedly admitted buying the items a week later. The case returns to Benton County District Court.
