J M Dinwiddie 84 prominent Cedar Rapids banker and founder of several banks died after a long career. He organized the Cedar Rapids Savings Bank and later led Guaranty Bank and Trust. Survived by widow two daughters three grandchildren. Body at Turner mortuary.
Eight Independence Boy Scouts were presented with Eagle Scout badges at their annual meeting led by Rev. J. H. Dew Brittain. Forward by Scoutmaster Alva Norton, the honorees were Harlan Halbert Melvin Gray John Willey Wendel Hamlin David Tidball LeRoy Wallace Robert Haney and Jack Gates.

Blanche W. Obenchain secured a district court judgment against her former husband Carroll Obenchain for accumulated alimony totaling $5 monthly from May 2, 1934, to August 12, 1936, the date she remarried. The case reflects a retroactive support claim and a court order for payment.
Funeral services for 87 year old Mrs E Doermann who died Thursday at her daughter Mrs Herman Richmann’s home near Lowden will be at 1:30 PM Sunday at Zion Evangelical and Reformed church with Rev F J Abele officiating. Burial will follow in Van Horne cemetery.

Federal and state officers aided by Deputy Sheriff William A. Leschensky raided August Holquist's farm home twenty miles north of Waukon. They confiscated a 25 gallon copper still five gallons of whisky 50 gallons of mash and a 15 gallon jar of home brewed beer. Holquist was taken into custody and appeared before Justice L. T. Hermanson on the liquor nuisance charge and waived preliminary hearing. Bond set at 500 furnished by A. M. Thume of Winneshiek County.
Maynard Carl E Miehe was re elected president of the Harlan township Farm Bureau Friday. Arlie Martin was elected secretary and Herbert Malven treasurer. Co operators elected included A M Gantenbein A J Meyer Guy E Allen Henry Schrader W C Garner A E Knight F H Steege Nick Samuelson and Ernest Miehe. The 1937 program was outlined by Paul E McElroy county agent with a saxophone duet by Myril Mae Paul and Ruth Gantenbein and a violin solo by Kathryn Hetzel accompanied by Mary Williams of Upper Iowa university Fayette.
Loyal Re Harrier former lumberman and fuel dealer and pioneer resident of Cedar Rapids died at his home 400 Fourth avenue SW at 4 45 p m Friday after a long illness He was born June 10 1865 in Bedford County Pennsylvania and came to Cedar Rapids as a child He worked with C D Arnold for 23 years retiring in 1918 He is survived by his wife Anna a brother James A Harrier two nieces and two nephews Eight sisters preceded him in death He was a member of Crescent lodge A F and A M Iowa Consistory El Kabir Shrine and B P O E Funeral services will be held at the Turner chapel Monday Crescent lodge will conduct a service Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery Masters Masons to meet at 1 30 p m Monday at lodge rooms for services
The Calvary Baptist revival night featured Rev T J Hinkin leading congregational singing and teaching a chorus. Chorus singer Rev Mr Brinkley and Mrs Hinkin with her children performed. Three hundred attended as Rev Richard V Clearwaters preached on The Hub of the Home A Christian Mother. The two week revival continues through November 29 with nightly services at 7 30 p m and no midweek offering.
Washington AP reports a strong rise in government income with four month receipts totaling 1,209,242,000 against 1,037,689,000 last year. Income, corporate taxes and liquor levies led gains as Treasury officials forecast a balanced budget beginning July 1.
Robbers entered the Holland Inn cafe operated by Joe Holland from Cedar Rapids by prying a nailed window open. They failed to find Friday's receipts and are suspected to have stolen merchandise. Cedar Rapids sheriff's officers investigated the break in.
