Linn County will spend 5000 dollars on a feasibility study for a senior citizens residential and meeting center in Cedar Rapids southeast at New Bohemia. The Witwer Center board and supervisors discussed a conceptual plan including housing a cafe and education space on the former Iowa Steel site south of 12th Avenue SE and east of Fourth Street.

Cedar Rapids store Guppy’s on Edgewood Road was fined $1,000 and its license suspended for seven days after an illegal gambling touch-screen device operated on the premises on February 14. The device could have been legal with functioning age verification. DPS and Sattco Inc. settled. the store may reopen but cannot sell or serve alcohol from 8 a.m. Jan. 15 to 8 a.m. Jan. 22. Lattoo must pay the fine by Dec. 19.
