Cedar Rapids Won't Condemn Kramer Property for Fire Station
Cedar Rapids will not pursue condemnation of 2.17 acres on Dave Kramer’s Rogers Road property for a new west side Central Fire Station. Kramer, a former parks official and council member, and his wife had objected after the city began steps to seize part of their 15 acre parcel. The city notes it previously bought four acres in 2004 to extend O Avenue NW toward Rogers Road NW. The new fire station is planned in the 700 block between First and Second Avenues SE to replace the flood ruined facility at 222 Third St NW.
