The defect involves improper lubrication of the camshaft and rocker arm, causing premature wear and potential engine issues. An injunction is sought to force Ford to notify affected owners.
Cedar Rapids Ford dealer Bob Zimmerman rejected Ford deception charges by the FTC. He said Ford issued a directive to repair free of charge 1974 76 four cylinder cars with cam shaft defects caused by workmanship and that warranties extended to three years and 36000 miles. He downplayed the scope, noting few problems among an estimated 1.8 million cars and that he would inform customers if chronic defects appeared.
A 12 foot high pile of shelled corn sits across a block in Ryan in front of Murphy’s home. Ryan Cooperative dumped it after harvest with warnings to Murphy. Manager Ries jokes about a contest to guess the pile size, estimating about 50 000 bushels. He plans to move it next week as rail cars arrive.
U S Attorney says Atlanta pornographer Michael Thevis and Jeanette Evans were arrested in Bloomfield after a bank suspicions led to a cash and weapon haul. Thevis, on the FBI ten most wanted list, faced charges with evading capture and harboring a fugitive. Bail for Evans set at 2.5 million. Thevis held without bail.
