The Daily Record notes Sunday high temperatures and overnight lows with precipitation totals. It forecasts Tuesday through Saturday near normal in the east and 3 to 6 degrees below normal in the west, with rain or snow and a total 0.25 to 0.50 inch, plus variable wind and sunrises and sunsets listed for the week.
Judge Ansel Chapman postponed the Richard D. Wolf trials to December 15 for rape and January 5 for sodomy. Wolf, 36, of Selma Ala, will not receive jail lawbooks. The judge will consider a mental evaluation only if requested, defense saying no immediate request. The July 31 incident involved a 21 year old woman at a southeast side apartment.

Trial opened in Linn district court Monday in the 513,727.58 suit by Raymond M. and wife against Loras McDermott Illinois Central Railroad Co and the city of Cedar Rapids over an Aug 20 1968 train vehicle collision. Mrs Schoonover seeks 512,356.43 for permanent disability medical costs and care losses and at least 50 percent disability. Mr Schoonover seeks 1,371.15 for car damage. Defendants claim city duties not owed and notice of claim defective while asserting Mrs Schoonover was negligent per state law.
Rudy L. Papakee a 20 year old Cedar Rapids man pled guilty Monday to robbery connected to the June 3 assault of Lloyd Hillsheim 42 who is totally blind Papakee already serves a 10 year term at the Anamosa reformatory on a breaking and entering charge Judge Ansel Chapman Linn district court gave a concurrent ten year sentence on the robbery charge A separate robbery charge related to the Hillsheim case is pending against Gary Knoke 21 of Cedar Rapids
Wholesale Suppliers Inc filed in Linn district court alleging Caravelle Wood Products violated a written agreement by selling directly to customers in a territory exclusive to Wholesale Suppliers. Damages cited total about 105000 plus 1500 for an early termination on June 12 with insufficient notice. exact loss pending audit.
Beverly Hills AP report on Dr. Robert White of Case Western Reserve who kept over 100 monkey brains alive outside their skulls for days. He communicated crudely via implanted electrodes and intact eye and ear nerves, suggesting future brain isolation could advance neurological research though brain transplants remain unlikely.
Colchester farmer John Wright sent a $320000 bill for two tons of confiscated marijuana to Vermont’s top legal official as a joke. Attorney General James Jeffords forwarded the note to the state treasurer and public safety, saying the sale of marijuana is illegal and the state has no liability for the crop. Wright noted the plant had been on his farm for years.

Albert J. Siebels of Monticello, a Highway Equipment Co. picket, was struck by a car driven by Edwin R. Rask as he turned into an alley by the plant. Amana Refrigeration workers voted 3 to 1 to accept a two year contract retroactive to Sept. 25 after an 11 week strike that involved about 600 of 900 union members at the Middle Amana plant. First year wage rise 30 cents per hour, second year 16 cents with fringe gains including expanded health coverage, more major medical and added holiday. Some 200 non union workers joined the walkout Aug. 25. production lines ran with supervisory staff.

Edna M Forsythe aged 86 widow of Harry Milton Forsythe died Sunday afternoon in a local hospital following a long illness. Born March 27 1887 in Cedar Rapids she leaves three daughters Mrs A J Truesdell Mrs Paul June and Mrs R C Amish and a son Franklin W Forsythe all of Cedar Rapids along with nine grandchildren 19 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. A charter member of Sharon United Methodist church she later joined St Johns Episcopal church Memorial services 3 p m Wednesday at Turner Chapel East officiated by Rev D A Loferski Burial in Linwood Cemetery Friends may call at Turner East.
Darlene M. Rich 35 of 4015 Mt Vernon Rd SE died Sunday after a lingering illness. Born November 23 1933 in Mt Pleasant she had lived in Cedar Rapids 16 years. Survived by husband James N Rich parents H H Johnson and Mrs Johnson son Steven Michael and daughters Debbra Lynn Karen Diane. siblings Russell Johnson Davenport and four sisters. Lotti Millicent Wilson 81 widow of John C Wilson died Sunday after a long illness at Americana nursing center. Born July 26 1888 in Springfield Illinois she lived in Cedar Rapids 22 years and was a member of Asbury United Methodist church. Surviving are four stepdaughters seven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Teahen chapel will conduct services Wednesday at 10 30 a.m with Rev William Cotton of Asbury United Methodist church officiating. Burial at cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday at Teahen funeral home.
Crawford County Sheriff Don Stehr told a district court hearing in Denison that he and a deputy were attacked during Saturday picketing at the Iowa Beef Packers plant. He said the plant was stoned and two semi trailers were set afire by pickets. About 175 pickets gathered, with a court-ordered limit of 12 on Saturday. Timothy Bahr was cited for contempt for violating the injunction and jailed after arrest. The case seeks to determine if the injunction should be permanent and ongoing violence probe continues.
Susan A. York, 18, injured when her auto struck a tree at Fourth street and Seventh avenue SW after her husband Carson L. York, 19, struck her in the face. Carson York was arrested for disturbing the peace and resisting an officer. Mrs. York treated and released. no charges. Robert M. Willits, 16, charged with failure to have vehicle under control after hitting a utility pole when his dog jumped forward. He treated and released.
Troops and George McGovern announced they accepted invitations to speak at the antiwar rally Saturday at the Washington Monument. Goodell fears possible violence, but would not abandon his antiwar stance. The Pentagon allows servicemen to participate if not in uniform, off duty, and not violating law.
