Washington AP reports Mechanics Universal Joint of Rockford Illinois and the estate of former president Eric S Ekstrom lost in the U S Supreme Court. The court unanimously affirmed a Seventh Circuit ruling that 42671 dollars withdrawn just before the bank closed in 1931 must be returned to the bank's receiver. Ekstrom allegedly signed the check after learning of the bank's peril.

RENWICK Iowa AP The Rev J A Hurley 67 pastor of the Baptist church for seven years collapsed and died of a heart attack in the pulpit during Sunday morning services. He was making weekly announcements when he collapsed and died within view of dying members. He had recently resigned and planned retirement at year end.
