Mesdames Lust Crawford Bashore and Johnson with Mrs Morrison attended as guests. The next meeting is slated for December 8 at Mrs Brinkman’s home.
Mrs. W. W. Hamilton of the Roosevelt hotel hosts a reception in the Roosevelt room Monday evening for about 200 guests. The event honors her daughter Mrs. Clifford Hub Bell and Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Kennedy of Buffalo, who arrived to visit Cedar Rapids before the Iowa Notre Dame football game.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold N. Graves of 2142 Blake boulevard SE spent a week in Peoria and Indianapolis. They visited Mrs. Graves sister Mrs. Kenneth Adair and attended Butler University dad's day festivities where their daughter Miss Patricia Graves was a student.
Mr and Mrs Amor H. Sargent of Washington Avenue SE host as weekend guests Mr and Mrs Preston Daniels of Des Moines who arrived for the weekend and will depart Tuesday for their home.
Lieut. Gov. and Mrs. Hickenlooper of 365 Park Terrace SE hosted a weekend visit by Mr. and Mrs. N. O. Hickenlooper of Blockton, the parents of Hickenlooper.
Mr. and Mrs. Lael R. Abbott of White Bear Minnesota formerly of Cedar Rapids are visiting a few days in the home of Mr. and Mrs. E J Lattner on Cottage Grove Avenue SE.
Mr and Mrs Glenn O Fletcher of 2244 Bever avenue SE will entertain twelve guests at their home this evening for a dinner gathering.
The six Daughters of Isabella card party chairmen and book shelf committee members met Friday at Mrs. Frances Duffy's home 840 Second Ave SE. Refreshments echoed Thanksgiving. A victory party is planned for November 21 to conclude the bridge event with all organization members invited and reservations via card party chairmen.
Theone and Lorene Foreman twins of H J Foreman celebrate their ninth birthday with a roller skating party at Shrine Temple on Saturday afternoon. Major and Mrs. Robert St. James hosted a Saturday night pheasant dinner at 2035 Bever Avenue SE. The game was bagged by Major and Mrs. C. S. Mrs David W. Lehti of 1932 Fifth Avenue SE returned after a ten day stay in New York City. She attended the eightieth birthday celebration of her mother during the visit.
Sinsinawa Rosary College club met at Commonwealth tea room for a luncheon and general meeting to join a national alumnae celebration of the seventy fifth anniversary. A greeting letter was sent to the Rosary college homecoming at River Forest while planning a delegation to the sectional spring meeting at Sinsinawa.
Mrs F F Davidson a noted lecturer and radio artist will be presented by District No 10 of St Pauls church in a musical reading Tuesday at 2 30 p m at the church She was born in Wales and educated in America and will read The Soul of a Violin with Kathleen Check violin Ruth Hemmer piano Open to the public.
Louise Leibert circle of the King's Daughters will meet at the home of Mrs. Lynn G. Swaney at 2053 B avenue NE Tuesday at 1 p.m.
The Buchanan P. T. A. meets Wednesday at 2 pm with the intermediate girls' glee club directed by Miss Evelyn Stoakes. Fred Carstens, police juvenile officer, will be guest speaker. Child care will be available for attendees. All members and friends are invited.
The Garfield P.T.A. meets Wednesday at 2 30 p.m. with a reading demonstration by 4B pupils. Guest speaker B L Wick discusses conditions in Europe as mothers of fourth grade pupils host the event.
The Arthur parent education group will meet on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the R. G. Owen home located at 2300 E Avenue NE.
Miss Mildred Greaves of Sherman Mills Maine wed Dr. R. F. MacDougal of Cedar Rapids at Westminster Presbyterian parsonage with Rev. James H. Blackstone Jr. officiating. The bride trained as a nurse in New York and now practices there. The groom is a Yale medical graduate practicing in Cedar Rapids. they plan to reside at 1427 Second Avenue SE after November 5.
A banquet honoring the confirmation class of October 29 was held at First Lutheran Church on Third Avenue at Tenth Street SE. The Intermedi ate Luther league and Ladies guild organized the event, with 1936 to 1939 class members named and attendees joined by sponsors and leaders in a harvest decorated gathering.
Mrs R J Martin at 862 Eleventh Street NE hosted ten children on Saturday afternoon for her son Ralphs fifth birthday. The youngsters played games and enjoyed refreshments at a table with a three tier cake lit by pink candles. Guests included Judy and Joan Markland Jimmy and Patty Fuchs Joann Crook Jerry Clark Darlene Price Beverly Briles and Margaret Jo Martin.
Cedar Rapids Woman's Club group No 5 will present Mrs Charles J Bready in a travelogue on November 17 at 8 pm The program is open to the public and replaces the previously announced Friday date in Sunday's Gazette.

Miss Leonore Rennekamp and Gregory J. Ellis were married at an 8 o'clock nuptial mass at Immaculate Conception church. The ceremony was conducted by Msgr. John M. Molloy. The couple will reside in Spencer after a northern Iowa Minnesota trip.

Mrs. Richard Slickly hosted the Libbie Worden church circle at 1137 Eighth Street NW Friday evening. Officers elected include President Marjorie Brinkman and Vice President Evelyn Keller with Gladys Maney as secretary and Vernon Herrington as treasurer. The musical play Honeymoon Town played at Greene's opera house today. The Immaculate Conception parish girls formed a new Joan of Arc circle with Viola Schulte chairing and Laura Healy as secretary. D T Rich and daughter Vera moved to Cincinnati. Mrs Jennie I Berry and Mrs Ida B Smith of Cedar Rapids joined the Iowa Historical Society.
Tony Fifie, worker at the Rock Island coal chutes, was killed last evening when he stepped from a switch engine footboard into the path of another engine. Dr S Brotherton has returned from an eastern vacation. A horse attached to American Express stirred a large Greene's opera house crowd into a scare during a Cohan and Harris minstrel street concert. no injuries occurred. The commercial club forms a committee to study elevating Fourth street tracks with George T Hedges Robert I Safely and Thomas H Simmons named.

Captain Joseph A. Gainard described the October 9 seizure of the American freighter City of Flint by a German prize crew from the pocket battleship Deutschland. He said the crew threatened to sink the ship if mutiny occurred, hoisted German colors, and moved the vessel to Tromsø and Murmansk while Norwegian neutrality officials boarded. The city of Flint later carried the British rescued crew from the sunken Stonegate and remained under German control for six days.
