Lincoln Iowa celebrates centennial with name history and events
The northwest Tama County town formerly named Berlin was renamed Lincoln in 1918 amid World War I sentiment. Centennial planners recount the Spencer family origins, the misread Berlin paper, and a town population now around 204. Three day events begin Friday with ceremonies in City Park and a Saturday parade and shows followed by a Sunday service and tractor pull.
