Study Expansion Of Iowa Citys Business Area
Special to The Gazette Iowa City discussed Friday in an informal council meeting the expansion of the central business district south beyond its present line between Clinton and College streets. The plan would push the boundary to Burlington Street or half a block beyond, in a C2 zone. Planning and zoning commission members were divided on recommending the change, with supporters arguing the current district is too small and that enlarging it could lower central business district property prices and encourage development.
