Dollmaker preserves grandmother's handiwork for museum

West Branch dollmaker Conni Lynch, 44, preserves her grandmother Marguerite Maruth’s legacy by donating dolls to the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority Museum. One piece, Miss Alphie, dressed as a 1890s lady, reflects the sorority’s founding era, while Lynch’s own 1960s era Scottish Highlanders doll complements the collection. Lynch runs a two story studio on Main Street and has won top honors in national dollmaking competitions. She plans four dolls for the Anamosa Sesquicentennial and hopes her daughters carry on the craft.
