Central Citian Hurt In Motorcycle Accident
Michial D. Kula a 17 year old from Central City was injured when his motorcycle collided with a car driven by 16 year old Doug J. Kelley Wednesday afternoon in Central City. Deputies say Kelley slowed and turned left while Kula attempted to pass. Kula received treatment at a Cedar Rapids hospital and was released. No charges filed.

Court Hears Six Drunk Driver Cases in Iowa Court
The First Avenue division of Iowa district court heard six drunk driving cases. Mark Sraith Jr pled guilty to a March 22 charge and received a six month suspended sentence. Denna Striegel and Michael Clancy pled guilty and received eleven month suspensions. Three defendants had charges dismissed and two received court costs. Ronald Rutgers was found guilty of assault and battery and fined 71 dollars plus costs. One license suspension charge against James White was dismissed due to dow ule filing.

Man Arrested In Assault on City Employee
Douglas Dean Bestor, 26, of 1403 Ellis Boulevard NW, was charged with assault and battery by Cedar Rapids police on Wednesday after Hazel Yardley, 60, an employee of the city traffic engineering department, reported he struck her twice when questioned about his towed car at the First Street parkade.

Democrats to unify Iowa conventions Saturday in Des Moines
Iowa Democrats plan a combined state and statutory convention at the Veterans Auditorium in Des Moines starting at 10 a.m. They will select seven at large delegates and five alternates, with 40 district delegates and 29 alternates for the national convention opening July 13 in New York.
