Ship sinks on Nile near Abu Simbel killing dozens

U S military adviser killed in San Salvador

Navy Cmdr. Albert A. Shaufelberger, 32 or 33, deputy commander of 55 U S military advisers in El Salvador, was shot four times in the head near the Central American University. He died en route to hospital. authorities did not identify a suspect or weapon.

Reagan's MX missile plan approved by Senate vote

The Senate backed President Reagan's plan to store 100 MX missiles in Nebraska and Wyoming by a 59 to 39 vote. Lawmakers also approved continued Pershing 2 production for Western Europe and freed 625 million dollars for MX development and testing.
