Rubashkin Sentencing Delayed as Iowa Trial Proceeds
Federal sentencing for former Agriprocessors vice president Sholom Rubashkin was rescheduled to June 22 while he faces a Waterloo state trial on child labor violations. The state alleges 31 minors worked at the plant from 2007 to 2008, with witnesses saying supervisors hid underage workers from inspectors. An injured former minor testified about a hand injury from a conveyor belt on the chicken line. Rubashkin was convicted in November on 86 counts including fraud and money laundering. U.S. District Chief Judge Linda Reade had signaled a ruling this week.
