Iowa City imposes 10 pm bar curfew for under 21s

In Iowa City a new ordinance bans anyone under 21 from bars after 10 pm starting June 1. University of Iowa students voice concern that the rule may push drinking to house parties and increase risk. Supporters cite binge and underage drinking as the impetus for the change.

Interim Cedar Rapids names Thoms as three month city manager

Allan Thoms former Dubuque official and state aide introduced as Cedar Rapids interim city manager. He will start Thursday under a three month contract worth 12500 dollars a month with no city benefits, while prioritizing his consulting firm duties.
