Harkin Praises Water Bill During Cedar Rapids Visit
Sen. Tom Harkin stopped in Cedar Rapids as the Water Resources Development Act passed the Senate. The bill funds 46 flood protection projects nationwide including Cedar Rapids with about 73 million dollars in federal money for the east Cedar River flood protection from Quaker Oats to Cargill. Project cost is estimated at 112 million, with funding sources to be determined.
