The University of Iowa hosts Havoc in the Heartland a two day stage combat workshop taught by Society of American Fight Directors certified instructors. Actors study rapiers and bar room brawling to tell a story safely. Participants include Riverside Theatre education director Nancy Rather Mayfield and US theater arts major Steve Ayers.

Hiawatha Man Arrested After Blairs Ferry Crash
Randy Simonds, 48, of Hiawatha, faces a drunken driving charge after a three car collision at Blairs Ferry Road and Interstate 380. Witnesses say he ran a red light and struck two vehicles. no injuries reported. Simonds was treated at St Luke's Hospital and released to police, then jailed in Linn County. Waterloo woman injured in single vehicle crash
WAUKON Ione Galanti of Waterloo, 39, sustained injuries when her car failed to negotiate a curve on county route W60 northwest of Waukon. The vehicle crossed the center line into oncoming traffic, went into a ditch and struck a tree and embankment, briefly went airborne, then rested on its wheels. State Patrol said the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
