A 30 year old woman in Winnetka, Illinois, delivered arsenic tainted juice to at least six homes and poisoned snacks to two college fraternities before killing herself after a shooting spree that wounded five and killed a student at Hubbard Woods Elementary School. Police say Laurie Dann also shot a 20 year old man nearby and dropped Capri Sun drinks at homes where she babysat. Investigators continue to piece together her motive and sequence of events.
Seventy percent of teachers rate the reform at C or lower, yet the Carnegie Foundation survey finds student achievement rising. Among 13,500 public school teachers, 50 percent give the reform a C, 29 percent a B, 13 percent a D, 6 percent an F, and 2 percent an A.

Valerie Morales, 27, of Los Angeles, was arrested by a passing sheriff's unit after an ambulance heading north in the Glendale Freeway southbound lanes struck a bread truck. Morales faces felony drunken driving and driving without the owner's consent investigations.

Todd Gray 27 of Phoenix died after leaping from a ninth story window at the Roosevelt Hotel in downtown Cedar Rapids early Saturday. Police called it death by own action. Gray, a Mount Mercy College graduate, was attending the wedding of John Jahlas and Karen Woodhouse with friends after a night of socializing. The tragedy occurred in Room 909 as guests in the hall heard the commotion. the wedding proceeded as scheduled.
