Law allows stun guns and less-lethal tools for officers
Gov. Branstad signed bills expanding use of less-lethal munitions for peace and correctional officers, a move prompted by Cedar Rapids police. The measure allows stun gun rounds, with Chief Bud Byrne noting it should boost officer confidence while not altering policy. The package also creates new careless driving offenses and expands a rural day care pilot project across four levels of care.
