Hog kill to stay large through September says AP
Washington AP reports the Bureau of Agricultural Economics expects hog slaughter to remain much higher than last year through September. Stronger consumer demand should temper price effects. May and June hog marketings likely exceed April, cattle marketings remain high overall, while breeding stock sales drop. Sheep and lamb marketings rise in May and June, with favorable April weather aiding early lambing. Pork exports to the United Kingdom may rise moderately next year.
