Minimum Barber Prices Proposed in Des Moines
A movement to fix minimum prices for haircuts and shaves in Iowa won approval at a joint convention of the Associated Master Barbers of Iowa and the Iowa State Association of Journeyman Barbers. About 500 delegates backed a law to set price floors, with 50 or 60 cents for haircuts and 25 or 30 cents for shaves in towns above 2,500. 40 cents for haircuts and 20 cents for shaves in smaller towns. Francis Kuble argued the plan could be legal since barbering is a service, not a commodity. L. D. Hamilton of Sioux City was reelected president of the Master Barbers, with others reelected to office.
