Gephardt campaigns on health care in rural Iowa visit
Missouri congressman Gephardt lectured about his health care plan to about 15 to 20 Hartley family members on a cedar rapids farm setting. He proposed taxpayer funded coverage covering 60 percent of employer based plans including self employed farmers and tied financing to rolling back tax cuts. He stressed farmers and agriculture and aimed to energize Iowa caucus support with a bold policy agenda.
