Hand Weaving of Tweeds Revived in Lancaster Mill

LANCASTER PA RP A centuries old craft the weaving of woolen fabrics on hand looms has been revived in an ancient grist mill on Conestoga creek at Brownstown. Walter Desager remodeled the 1855 mill and built five looms from plans drafted by himself. Local inexperienced men were hired and trained as weavers. The hand weaving yields high quality fabric and allows quick style changes. Fabrics will be a type tweed for men and women's wear. The interior will reflect the mill’s age with a Pennsylvania Dutch broom for display and employee use.
